Here’s something we didn’t see coming: Bleed Clothing — the German skater-founded vegan outdoor brand we’ve loved for years — filed for insolvency in 2024. The good news: founder Michael Spitzbarth wasted no time. Within months he launched Picea Earth (picea.earth), a new brand carrying forward the same 100% vegan, sustainable, circular-economy ethos he built over 15 years at Bleed.
Same founder. Same commitment to hemp, organic cotton, and recycled materials. Same zero-animal-products policy. Picea Earth is newer and the US lineup is still building out, but the brand DNA is intact and verified. Worth watching closely.

But here’s what Patagonia also does: they make an enormous amount of gear from recycled polyester, organic cotton, and synthetic insulation, and they’ve been sustainability-forward for decades. The Nano Puff jacket is one of the most beloved vegan-friendly outdoor pieces ever made. Their fleeces, base layers, and many of their shells are completely animal-free.

Adidas launched the Terrex line in 2011 specifically for hikers, trail runners, and serious outdoor athletes. And they’ve quietly built out one of the better vegan outdoor footwear ranges in the game.
They’ve also committed to replacing all virgin polyester with recycled polyester and removed PVC and PFCs across nearly their entire production. The outdoor gear meets the sustainability commitments. Plus the shoes look good, which matters.

The brand isn’t marketing to vegans. But a lot of their best technical pieces are made without animal products, because synthetic materials are simply superior for performance in many conditions.
