STOP throwing out those small propane canisters! I wish I knew this years and years and years ago—you can re-use empty 1lb propane canisters with this ~$15 gadget from Amazon! And using it’s easy peasy.
We scoured Amazon for the to get the best one at the best price. Check it out and grab yours here https://amzn.to/3JKxhyS
Semi-pro tip: When filling your refillable canisters burp ’em a couple times. Let them fill for a minute, close the large propane tank valve, unscrew the small canister to release pressure and screw it back on again. Doing this a couple of times will help you fill the small canister to full capacity (same level as the big tank).
That said, our team of crackhead interns are working on a how to video as we speak and we’ll get that up as soon as we can.

Great fit and finish. No leaking. Easy to use and works great. Good price. Burp the tank between 2 or 3 fills to get a full capacity refill. There are several good guide videos on YT.
Tip – do not use the small shrader valve on top (red X in pic) to burp your tank. They inevitably leak after you break the seal.
Instead, fill tank until it stops flowing by listening. Close red valve. Unscrew tank. Depress the internal check valve with a small Allen wrench or similar clean tool. Burp a few times to release built up pressure. If you get any liquid spray, stop. Then you can reattach the tank and get a decent fill. Use a scale before and after to know how much propane you have added. I actually got more than 1lb added to the tank this way, which I do not recommend. A 1 lb tank should only have 1 lb of propane. The extra space is there for expansion and safety.
Also, do this outside. Propane stinks! Not to mention it’s flammable.
